My Experience

Stephen Whelan
I am a qualified, experienced, and accredited coach whose practice is informed by extensive strategy development and business change experience in customer focused public and private sector environments, both in the UK and internationally.
I understand how functional, cultural, and political boundaries can effect change and my combination of skills, experience, and an M.B.A., helps foster empathy and understanding of many of the challenges senior directors and managers face today - particularly in relation to strategy, and/or transformational change in business and life.
I have an M.A. (Distinction) in Coaching and Mentoring Practice from Oxford Brookes University and have gained coaching accreditation status from the International Centre for Coaching and Leadership Development based within the Business School of Oxford Brookes University. I am passionate about the role professional coaching can play in enhancing human potential and my dissertation explored the phenomenon of stuckness from a coaching perspective and how coaches and clients engage with, and resolve, ‘stuckness’ issues plus the organisational dynamics that may impact upon it. I am committed to continuing professional development, coaching best practice, supervision, and working ethically. Furthermore, I am a member of the Association for Coaching and also of the Association of M.B.A.'s.
In my personal life I have competed in County, British, and World championship level athletics competitions and benefited enormously from working with great sports coaches. I also very much enjoy good conversation, walking in the hills with friends and family on sunny days, dining out, music, film, theatre and literature.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope that we can start working together.
